The West African Capital Market Development Project promotes regional integration, both in terms of infrastructure (by financing regional infrastructure projects) and financial markets, across the eight WEAMU countries. It: (1) contribute to the development of the capital market in the eight countries that form the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU); (2) supports key institutions in the regional financial market to improve their institutional capacity to provide access to medium to long-term commercial financing; (3) mobilizes public and private financing for the region’s infrastructure development through Banque Ouest-Africaine de Développement (BOAD), the Regional Development Bank of the WAEMU countries. The mandate consisted of participating in the World Bank Appraisal Mission as the « Institutional Specialist». Assess the project’s institutional set-up and its appropriateness to meet the expected objectives especially regarding capital market development. Mainly responsible for preparing the institutional arrangement to ensure key shareholders’ ownership of the process and a successful implementation of the project activities.
