The purpose of the Mandate Review was to provide information on the relevance, success and cost-effectiveness of ECBC to the Minister responsible for ACOA. This information will be used to reconfirm or amend the mandate of the Corporation. The Cape Breton Corporation supports SME development in Cape Breton, a deprived area of Nova Scotia. The Corporation is charged with the responsibility for promoting and assisting the financing and development of industry in the region, providing employment outside the coal-producing sector and broadening the base of the local economy.
