For the past two years, Universalia has supported the Armande Bégin Fund for the Promotion of Women in Mali. Armande Bégin has worked in many countries, particularly in Mali, as a volunteer for the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI). She was strongly committed to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the health, as well as the economic well being, of women and their children. She was married to our colleague Yves Pétillon, CECI Director from 1989 to 1999. They worked together in Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Peru, Haiti, and Mali.
Committed to working in the field with these Malian women, CECI supports the institutional strengthening of organizations working for the promotion of more equal relationships between women and men. It provides financial support to projects aimed at increasing the income, health and equal access to rights. The donations received in memory of Mrs. Bégin will reinforce CECI commitments to the women of Mali.
