Meaghan C. Shevell is a Consultant for Universalia’s Gender Equality & Inclusion Practice. Since joining Universalia in February 2021, she has led, managed, and contributed to different evaluations that focus on gender equality, women and youth empowerment, sexual and reproductive health rights, gender-based violence (GBV), women and youth participation in peacebuilding, disability rights and inclusion. Ms. Shevell also supports a number of mandates across the firm as a Gender Specialist and Youth Empowerment Expert. She has worked with a range of clients including UN Agencies such as UN Women, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Food Programme, as well as multilateral institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
Ms. Shevell brings thematic expertise in the areas of gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE), child protection, youth advocacy, social inclusion and inclusive social development. She is proficient in various qualitative and quantitative methodologies, tools, and approaches, with technical expertise in participatory methodologies and youth-led approaches to engage a range of different stakeholders throughout the evaluation process.
Prior to joining Universalia, Meaghan was a Research Coordinator and Project Manager with nearly 10 years of research experience in the areas of children’s rights, child protection, disability rights, education, and gender-based violence in humanitarian and development contexts. She holds a Master’s in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from McGill University. Meaghan is fluent in English with working proficiency in French, and conversational in Spanish and American Sign Language.
