The Corporate Evaluation of UN Women’s Contribution to United Nations System coordination on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (GEEW) was commissioned and managed by the Independent Evaluation Office of UN Women. The corporate evaluation aimed to assess the relevance, effectiveness and organizational efficiency of UN Women’s role in UN system coordination on gender equality and the empowerment of women. It also considered how a human rights-based approach and gender equality principles are integrated in the implementation of this role. The evaluation explored the contributions of UN Women to UN system coordination on GEEW over the period 2011- 2015 at country, regional and global levels, including the link between its coordination role and operational and intergovernmental normative support roles. All thematic and operational areas of work were considered in the evaluation, including UN Women’s work in humanitarian contexts. Case studies were carried out in: Fiji, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Mali, and Mexico.
